Today and tomorrow the return matches in the semi-finals of the Champions League are scheduled. First of tonight at 19.45 in the Allianz Arena the confrontation between Bayern Munich and Atlético Madrid. Tomorrow night at the same time Real Madrid hosts Manchester City in the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
Bayern Munich will be looking for their 12th consecutive home win in the Champions League in an attempt to overcome the 1-0 away defeat at Manchester City last Wednesday. Although seemingly in control the entire match, Bayern got stung by a very early Atlético goal from midfielder Saúl. Still without the injured Arjen Robben the Bavarian team will need to attack but without taking too many risks because an away goal by Atlético Madrid will most likely be fatal.
On Wednesday the main question again will be if Cristiano Ronaldo will be fit enough to be in the starting XI of Real Madrid in their match versus Manchester City. Real comes of a 0-0 draw last Tuesday at the Etihad Stadium and needs to win this match to secure a place in the final and keep the hopes alive not to finish the season without any silverware.
For these two semi-final matches FantasyBet created a freeroll which I will be joining. The budget is set at 120 million instead of the usual 100 million. Also, because of the small number of teams in this fantasy league, you are allowed 5 players per team instead of the standard 3 players per team.
Program Champions League Semi-Finals
Tuesday 3rd May
19.45 Bayern Munich – Atlético Madrid
Wednesday 4th May
19.45 Real Madrid – Manchester City
For us fantasy football managers the hardest thing to assess is the situation regarding Cristiano Ronaldo. Not only the most expensive player available, if fit an absolute starter and captain, but things are very uncertain at the moment. Since the fantasy league starts on Tuesday, right before kick-off of Bayern Munich against Atlético Madrid, it is advised to wait as long as possible with registering your fantasy football team, and anticipate the latest news.
Real Madrid goalie Keylos Navas will be my guardian this time. It was him or Manuel Neuer, but for some reason I have a feeling Atlético Madrid will score tonight.
My team consists of three defenders, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo and Daniel Carvajal, all from Real Madrid. I strongly believe Los Galácticos will it dry in the back and I put all my defensive eggs into one basket.
Because I want to play with three expensive attackers I have to make some concessions in my midfield picks. I chose Kevin de Bruyne form Manchester City and my other 3 midfielders represent Bayern Munich: Douglas Costa, Arturo Vidal and Javi Martinez.
Although Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to be a starter for Real Madrid I won’t pick the Portuguese star. My 3 strikers will be Gareth Bale, Robert Lewandowski and Sergio Agüero.
Johnny’s Fantasy Premier League line-up
My team will be captained by Gareth Bale and Robert Lewandowski will be my vice-captain.
